Only the best wines, from the best vineyard parcels, are candidates for Grand Reserve.
A wine can only claim the status of Grande Reserva after approval from the board of the Pamela Denomination of Origin, with further approval from SVP’s winemakers. But even more demanding is the assessment of the oenologists from Sociedade Vinícola de Palmela.
Only the best wines from the best vineyards aged in new oak and the bottle can be considered for this level of quality. And even then, the oenology team’s decision is only made after ageing in luxury barrels and then in bottle.
Grande Reserva white is made from Arinto, Fernão Pires, and Síria white varieties and the red Grande Reserva from very old vines located on sandy soils predominantly planted with Castelão but also with Touriga Nacional and Cabernet Sauvignon.
These wines have the potential for great longevity, ideal for the exacting wine lover.
